Maria Lodhi
AI Research & Technical Analyst
Maria Lodhi is an AI Research & Technical Analyst at the African Centre for AI Governance and Oversight (ACAIGO), where she provides technical research and analysis to support the Centre’s work on AI governance, policy and emerging technologies.
She has completed an MSc in Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence at Queen Mary University of London, with expertise in computational linguistics, machine learning, natural language processing, statistical data analysis and large language models. Her background provides a strong technical foundation for examining how contemporary AI systems are developed, trained and applied across different contexts.
At ACAIGO, Maria contributes to the technical analysis of AI systems, models and datasets, supporting the Centre’s assessment of emerging AI capabilities, risks and governance challenges. She works across multidisciplinary research and advisory initiatives, providing technical insight to inform policy development, regulatory analysis and responsible AI governance.
Her work strengthens ACAIGO’s capacity to connect technical developments in artificial intelligence with the regulatory and policy frameworks shaping their use across Africa.
