Gakii Kalaine 

Gakii Kalaine is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with expertise in data protection, privacy, digital governance, and regulatory compliance. As Lead, Data Protection & Privacy at the African Centre for AI Governance and Oversight (ACAIGO), she leads the Centre's data protection and privacy practice, supporting organizations in developing effective privacy governance frameworks and meeting their data protection compliance obligations.

Gakii advises organizations across a range of sectors on privacy governance, regulatory compliance, data protection impact assessments, privacy risk management, cross-border data transfers, and the implementation of data protection programmes. She also serves as an external Data Protection Officer (DPO), helping organisations strengthen accountability, manage privacy risks, and align their operations with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Kenya's Data Protection Act, and emerging data protection frameworks across Africa.

Combining legal expertise with technical proficiency in SQL, Python, Power BI, and Tableau, Gakii delivers practical, data-driven privacy solutions that support responsible data governance and informed decision-making. Her work enables organizations to embed privacy into their operations while fostering trust, accountability, and regulatory compliance in an increasingly digital environment.
