Christabel Atieno

Christabel Atieno is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Certified Professional Mediator with over five years of post-qualification experience spanning regulatory compliance, corporate advisory, and complex litigation across all levels of the Kenyan judicial system.

As Head of Legal & Compliance at ACAIGO, she leads the Centre’s legal, governance, and compliance function, providing strategic oversight on all legal and regulatory matters. She is responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with applicable laws, advising on institutional governance and risk, overseeing contractual frameworks, and leading due diligence on partnerships and engagements. She plays a central role in safeguarding the Centre’s operations and enabling its work in advancing AI and data governance across Africa.

Christabel brings a strong foundation in general litigation, alongside experience in commercial and corporate law and employment law. Her combined expertise in litigation and alternative dispute resolution enables her to navigate complex legal challenges with both strategic foresight and practical precision.

She is recognized for her sound judgement, leadership, and ability to deliver clear, business-oriented legal guidance in dynamic and evolving regulatory environments.
