Chrispus Owiti

Mr. Owiti Crispus Ochieng is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Partner at Owiti Muiruri & Co. Advocates LLP, and a Consultant Researcher at the Judicial Service Commission. He has expertise in artificial intelligence governance, digital policy, data protection, and technology regulation, with a particular interest in the legal and governance implications of emerging technologies.

As Chief Research Officer, AI & Digital Policy at the African Centre for AI Governance and Oversight (ACAIGO), Owiti leads the Centre's research and policy agenda, overseeing interdisciplinary research, policy analysis, and strategic initiatives on artificial intelligence, digital governance, and emerging technologies. He works closely with governments, regulators, industry, academia, and civil society to produce evidence-based research and policy recommendations that strengthen AI governance and digital regulation across Africa.

Owiti is a certified AI Governance Professional and Data Protection Practitioner, with additional professional qualifications in Legal Audit and Compliance, the European General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), Cybersecurity, and Information Technology. His work focuses on AI governance, digital policy, regulatory reform, and the development of legal and institutional frameworks that respond to Africa's evolving technological landscape.
